Sharing Time

Breakfast & Attention

We are all rushed in the morning. It can be difficult getting everyone out the door in a timely manner. Even though you may be in a hurry make certain that you and your child take the time to have breakfast! It truly is an important part of your day!

A study conducted by Harvard researchers found that students who ate breakfast were "…significantly more attentive in the classroom, earned higher grades in math, and had significantly fewer behavioral and emotional problems." If children who eat breakfast perform better in school, then you can imagine the positive effect it will have on you in the workplace.

Some breakfast tips:

The night before place items on the table that you and your child may need for breakfast. Items may include plates, bowls, silverware, juice glasses, cold cereal etc. If these items are on the table in the morning, your child can simply grab what they need instead of asking you to get everything for them.Limit your child’s choices to three items so there is not a lot of time spent debating what to eat.

Choose breakfast items that contain some protein and fiber. Avoid serving sugary cereals and white breads. Those foods may cause a blood sugar crash later in the day.

Have a healthy breakfast and both you and your child will feel and perform better all day long!
